International Convocation of UU Women
GLOBAL SISTERS COUNCIL DESCRIPTION
Date:  February 1, 2010

PURPOSE:  The International Convocation of UU Women desires to hear regularly from its members and constituents through the “Global Sisters Council”.   ICUUW established the Global Sisters Council following the First International Convocation in February/March 2009.

GLOBAL SISTERS COUNCIL:  The Council is made up of volunteer participants and is informal, with no number of participants stated.  Participants shall have an understanding of the goals and objectives of the ICUUW and its primary program areas.

MEMBERSHIP IN THE ICUUW ON LINE COMMUNITY:  ICUUW requires all Global Sisters Council participants to be members of the ICUUW Online Community. This means that participants must be sure to re-register, as instructed from time to time, to maintain current membership. Keeping individual registrations current enables the ICUUW to ensure security of information.

MEETINGS:  Global Sisters Council will meet four times per year, once in person at UUA General Assembly and three additional times via teleconferencing.  Meetings will be announced and staffed through the ICUUW On Line Community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Global Sisters Council has the following Program Responsibilities within the ICUUW:

• Review of criteria used in evaluating program initiatives for inclusion in the ICUUW Online Community Database.
• Approval of Program Initiatives for inclusion in the ICUUW Online Community Database.
• Review and research on proposals for program initiatives of the ICUUW.
• Review of ICUUW organizational policies as requested by the ICUUW Board of Directors.
• Individual participants on the Global Sisters Council may act as volunteer ambassadors for the ICUUW or volunteer trainers with congregations or UU womens’s groups, both in the USA and abroad, from time to time, as requested by the ICUUW Board or suggested by the work of the Global Sisters Council.
• Global Sisters Council will continuously analyze and suggest ways to encourage use of the ICUUW On Line Community as the ICCUW’s primary means of communicating with the ICUUW Community.
• Global Sisters Council will report from time to time to the ICUUW Board.
• Global Sisters Council will make a yearly report to the ICUUW Board at the ICUUW Annual Meeting, to be scheduled usually at time of the UUA General Assembly.
