 Dear Friends,

As the year ends, I wanted to thank you for your continued support and to update you on some of our recent activities.
Following the Arab Spring and the November hearing in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Women, we have been looking for opportunities in the media to continue to link the importance of US ratification of CEDAW to critical foreign policy issues in the Middle East, Afghanistan and elsewhere.  See Zeitlin letter to NY Times, Tarr-Whelan Op-Ed and Tarr-Whelan UN Association article.
This week President Obama and Secretary Clinton released the first ever National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security and an Executive Order directing agencies to implement the plan. The Leadership Conference issued a statement applauding the Plan and noted the President’s support for ratification of CEDAW.
We encourage you to look for opportunities for letters to the editor and op-eds in your local media.  Feel free to call on me or Kathy Bonk at the Communications Consortium for assistance. (kbonk@ccmc.org)
Best wishes for the holidays.
